Since insects fly long distances for food, the trap will work almost any place you put it, but there are guidelines. Do not place the trap near an area that you will be using - patio, etc... Place the trap, instead, at the end of your garden, away from the house or patio. That way, the insects will be attracted away from you, your family, and friends. You should also try to hang the trap in the evening or early morning, when the insects are less active, and less likely to bother you. Does the Portek Lure attract any other Insects?
Our lure is insect species specific. It will not attract any other insect species so our trap will have a very small impact on these beneficial insects. There is a capsule inside the Portek Fly traps. Do I have to empty the contents of the capsule into the trap?
The capsule that holds the lure is designed to break down when liquid is poured into the trap. It was designed this way for the convenience of the customer, who does not have to physically handle the lure. If cold liquid is used it will take about 4 to 6 hours for the gel capsule to dissolve. This process can be speeded up by slightly warming the liquid before it is poured into the trap. What are the best liquids to use in the Portek Fly Traps?
The basic liquid used is tap water, but we also recommend using diluted vinegar. |
